When the owners decided to renovate the apartment, only a few updates were needed. Aiming to stay minimal with the interventions to ensure that the views to the North Shore mountains of Vancouver remained the primary focus of the living spaces, besides subtle ceiling and wall layout changes, the main updates were to the millwork, appliances, and fixtures.
The living spaces palette was built around Black Carmanah marble, quarried on Vancouver Island, a favourite of one of the owners. The black finish on other elements was to frame and complement the stone; the blue paint was to echo the hazy mountains.
In the bathrooms, light grey marble was selected to make small space appear lighter and more airy. Light oak was chosen to echo the apartment floors and give depth and warmth to these two spaces.
